i think it's high time i go for the prius. yeah, pricey at P2.15M. but imagine the savings at 30km/li!!! that's nearly 4X my current consumption with sexyback. and since my new office is further away from my new house, my consumption has increased by 30%! these are the hidden costs of upgrading to new digs and new workplaces.
it looks more like a concept car. and it has a look that grows on you. well, for a smaller carbon footprint, why not?

Nice car - sleek and elegan, a bit pricey though.
Hey nice blog. Palink po. :)
Mave and I were looking at the Prius too.... though I read somewhere that you actually have to use the prius for 10years (on a daily driving average for US users) to make ROI, I forget the exact numbers... the good news is someone used his Prius as a generator during a blackout (google it. hehe).
How many Km's do you have to drive to justify the initial outlay?
Great!
Perhaps you'd sell your sexyback to me!
Why not?! if you think you can really save.. Go for Gold!
I've always wanted a hybrid, even way, way back. But I know I have to wait not only til they make it available here in the country but to also make it affordable for the ordinary Juan.
In other words, mas matagal pa ako kaysa sa 'yo makaka-afford ng hybrid! LOL
prius technology will be outdated by next year. new generation electric cars would be out in the US market by then. this will negatively affect resale value. moreover, how is aftersales support for this model with very few units expected to be sold in the Phils market - which makes spare parts expensive. so, why buy?
hmm....savings? are you sure you will be able to recoup the difference?
pero syempre, if you want the image that comes with driving the prius, go buy!

They said that if your reason to buy a hybrid is that you can save on gas money, then you shouldn't be buying it. I forgot the supposed reason.
But I was in this situation before when i was selecting my first car.
Reason not to go for the Prius:
1. It is a fairly new technology. Not everyone will be able to fix it. Say you were on a long drive and it broke down. Manong from the eskinita wont even know how to fix it. You are then screwed.
2. Traffic. The Prius's engine runs both electric and gas. When it is on a halt, it runs on gas thus generating power while not running. When it runs, it uses that generated power. Manila = Traffic. Traffic = stopping. Stopping = gas usage. Gas usage = More money spent.
3. The rearview sucks. It is too small. Thats why they added the back-up camera feature which isnt on the base Prius (im not sure).
Therefore, It is wrong to think that you can save a lot on a Prius.
salamat sa mga comments, raiders! gives me a more balanced perspective on the purchase.
i dont expect the purchase to fully pay itself back with the savings in fuel. at this point, an incremental positive variance in fuel expense is a lot of help. =)
lets see what happens!
total afford mo naman so go na! pasakay ha :)
jetblue: too expensive cc.. stay with ur crv, still better in terms of pogi points..
