pilipinas, there's poison
in pilipino: pilipinas melason!
they are quite a pair. and when they came out that night at the abs cbn trade show, the crowd went wild. and here i am writing about them.
after seeing all those gorgeous gals and guys of abs cbn, and feeling this cocktail of lust, envy, insecurity, it was actually quite a relief to see these two plain people working the crowd. they were being their candid selves (or were they really?) and the people were just loving it. melay speaks a mile a minute and doesnt seem to have the facility to actually filter herself. jason looked so uncomfortable in his long sleeve. but he really aint bad looking. and his probinsiyano ways (the incessant head scratch) were quite endearing.
the underdog theme of the pair versus the paul jakes and sams of that pbb certainly appealed to the pinoy on the street. dont we all root for that hero who comes from nowhere? dont we all aspire similarly?
so is this an aberration in the beauty and glam of showbizzz? or is there a trend somewhere that will soon be exploited by the other networks?
how long will they last in this glitzy reality? how long before the audience gets tired of them? will the audience get tired sooner because they are not exactly as pleasing to look at?
or perhaps the abs cbn machinery will soon start the make over process, the overhaul in this case. and soon they'll both be glammed up, believing in their irresistible power that the talent center convinced them.
so many questions. for quite a pair. im suddenly feeling sad for them.

I think Melay recently got hair hair... fixed.
i share the same sentiments... i actually liked the idea of MELASON.. the CHEEZZZY factor is super! but it seems i still like the idea..
i think the other shoe should've dropped a long time ago. i'm scurrred.
Nora Aunor. Aiai delas Alas before she had work done on her. Pokwang (but she's very showbiz savvy).
Honestly, there are exceptions to the beauty rule of showbiz. But yes, they are exceptions. The PBB/ABS machinery helped give them a platform. Whether they last will depend on having them convert the curiosity-of-the-ordinary into something more lasting, whether it's genuine talent or the PR savvy to keep people looking at them. (Nowadays one needs a bit of both.)
There are those who will find the oddball quite charming....
But, like the good Lord himself said about salt losing its flavour, what becomes of them when their luster becomes a bare glimmer.
Do they become stock characters like Punch and Judy?
Abangan ang susunod na ....
