cc quickie: kalayaan

random thoughts really. one of the most taken-for-granted things in life, methinks. until one realizes that it is threatened.

i'm not old enough to have lived through a war, contrary to popular belief. LOL. but i was a little kid when martial law was imposed. though it didn't seem much to me then. i was in bed way before curfew.

yes, there was a curfew. people were prohibited from being out in the streets after a certain time (was it 12 midnight?) imagine being in O bar and having to go home by 12mn.

then there were the stories of people being jailed for 'conspiring', for 'treason'. nowadays, only in game of thrones does one hear of such plots. but it was real then. you can get into jail for airing your complaint, your grievance against the government. so your chatter and ranting could actually get you into trouble. imagine, tweeting about lousy politicians or stupid laws and policy would be monitored and would be used against you. you'd think twice about tweeting anything.

freedom. appreciated in terms of its loss.

What's your comment regarding this new generation of young people who thinks Marcos was the greatest PH President?
